Policies By Program

Yamaha Group Program

REGISTRATION AND FEES: The STUDENT/PARENT agrees to pay tuition fees in accordance with lesson costs of a particular area of study by one of the Payment Plans as stated on the registration form

  • Registration is confirmed when registration deposit has been paid.
  • Registration is complete when:
  1. full amount is paid OR
  2. post-dated cheques are submitted to school based on the payment plan OR
  3. Valid Credit Card is available on file.
  • ALL N.S.F CHEQUES WILL BE SUBJECT TO A twenty-five ($25) dollars N.S.F FEE.

PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL/ CANCELATION/ REFUNDS

Yamaha Music Education is an academic year program that runs for 37 weeks from September to June It is not advisable to enroll to the program, unless the intent is to complete the academic year. Any withdrawal requests must be received by the 20th of the month to avoid charges for the following month. The refund amount will be calculated as follows:

  • Refund requests received prior to the commencement of the program in September: The first monthly payment  will be withheld and is non-refundable regardless of the payment plan selected.
  • Refund requests received after the program commencement in September: The flat monthly multiplied by the number of months since program commencement up to the day of the refund request will be withheld regardless of the payment plan selected or number of classes attended within the month. For example: If the withdrawal request is received on prior to Oct 31, the number of months attended will be calculated as 2. If the withdrawal request is received on Dec 1st, the number of month will be calculated as 4.

 ONLINE PROGRAM DELIVERY:  88 KEYS reserves the right to continue program delivery in an ONLINE format due to severe and extreme weather conditions, teacher sickness OR if, for any reason, school’s physical location is inaccessible, unsafe, or closed. NO REFUNDS or CREDITS will be applied, should the student decide not to attend the online class.

CLASS CANCELATIONS

  • 88 KEYS reserves the right to cancel classes due to teacher absences. Students will be notified by email.
  • Makeup classes will be arranged for classes canceled by the school. Makeup class will take place during planned school closures including Christmas break, March Break, Easter holiday or summer break. NO REFUNDS or CREDITS will be applied, should the student decide not to attend the makeup class

ATTENDANCE

Please notify the Studio in advance of any absences. Consistency is important for steady improvement.

MISSED CLASSES AND MAKE UP CLASSES FOR YAMAHA GROUP PROGRAM

  • No Refunds/Credits will be issued for a missed class. Students are welcome to attend a similar class on another day/at another time as a makeup for the missed class, assuming there is more than one class offered for the program the student is enrolled in. All makeup classes are offered in ONLINE format only. This is to ensure that classes are kept within their current cohorts and due to space limitations.
  • Makeup classes are not guaranteed and are subject to class availability. Important Note: Joining another class for a makeup lesson DOES NOT guarantee the coverage of the missed material. It merely provides an opportunity for a student to attend an extra class.
  • Makeup classes cannot be rescheduled, substituted by a Practice Coach or exchanged for a credit or cash equivalent

Important: Due to the nature of Yamaha program and a different pace of each class, a makeup lesson will not provide the full benefits of a regular class.  The students may become distracted or confused in a new environment. We encourage all parents to try and avoid missing a class if possible.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

  • In the event of teacher’s absence due to illness or other personal reasons, 88 Keys reserves the right to provide a suitable substitute teacher for all programs offered.
  • Should the STUDENT decide to miss a class as a result of a substitute teacher, such cancellation will NOT be entitled for a makeup lesson.
  • Should the STUDENT decide to withdraw from the program as a result of a substitute teacher, the withdrawal request will be subject to standard WITHDRAWAL/ CANCELLATION Policy

Photo and Video Waiver: The center is hereby granted permission to take photographs of students (in class activities) to use for promotional materials the center creates.

Individual Lessons

  • ALL N.S.F CHEQUES WILL BE SUBJECT TO A twenty-five ($25) dollars N.S.F FEE.

PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL/ CANCELATION

Students on a Monthly Plan: Written notice of withdrawal must be sent to info@88keys.ca no later the 20th of each month to cancel your monthly subscription. If cancellation request is sent after the 20th of the month, the credit card will be charged for the next month’s lessons before subscription is discontinued.

Students on an Academic Year Plan:  Individual Music Lessons academic year program includes 37 weekly lessons from September to June. It is understood that registration is for the full academic year (September – June) and that the student has an agreement with the studio to complete the year.  Withdrawal from the program may be considered due to prolonged illness or injury (doctor’s note required). Non-attendance is not considered a withdrawal and outstanding balance is due in full to 88Keys Music School. Students joining mid-term will be prorated for the missed classes till the end of the academic year.

LESSON CANCELATION AND MAKE UPS

To present you with a high caliber of music instruction, our teachers must be fairly compensated for their time. When you sign up for the music lessons, you are reserving both a time slot from your teacher and a teaching room. This professional commitment that each student makes with his or her instructor is why we have the following Lesson Cancelation Policy:

  • STUDENTS will receive four (4) makeup lessons per academic year if a lesson is canceled for any reason other than student’s illness. Minimum of 5(five) days advance notice is required if a lesson is canceled for any reason, other than illness.
  • Lessons canceled with less than five (5) days’ notice will be considered as LATE CANCELED and be forfeited with no makeup/credit provided (exception will apply to a lesson canceled due to the student’s illness).
  • Lessons cancelled in the excess of four (4) entitled for a makeup will be considered as LATE CANCELED and forfeited with no makeup/credit provided.
  • All makeup lessons must be used prior to the commencement of a new academic year
  • Makeup lessons will be scheduled based on the availability of the instructor and will be reserved on a first come first serve basis.

  • 88 KEYS reserves the right to cancel lessons due to unforeseen circumstances at the discretion of school’s administration. Students will be notified by email and/or text message.
  • For students on an academic year plan, makeup classes will be arranged for classes canceled by the school.

Waiver of Liability: I am enrolling my child(ren) in 88 Keys classes for the entire session and understand that my payment is due accordingly.  I release any and all rights and claims for damages against 88 Keys and its staff in the unlikely event of injury sustained by myself or my child(ren) during the course of or as a result of this musical activity.

PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL/ CANCELLATION

Kindermusik Programs run based on the on-going subscription based model with a minimum of a monthly commitment expected.

Written notice of withdrawal must be sent to info@88keys.ca no later the 20th of each month to cancel your program subscription. If cancellation request is sent after the 20th of the month, credit card will be charged for the next month’s program fee before subscription is discontinued.

MISSED LESSONS AND MAKE UPS: Students are welcome to attend similar class on another day/at another time, subject to class/space availability. Missed classes cannot be substituted for CREDITS or REFUNDS.
