WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO?

At 88 Keys Music and Discovery Center, we believe in the incredible power of music. Music is such an extraordinary art form, and the joy of music can be shared between any age, language, and culture. It has the power to heal, to change lives, and to bring people closer together. Music fosters community, and it is something we can make together.

We continue to work tirelessly to build a positive, family-oriented community that loves to share this joy of music with everyone. We welcome you to join us and help make our community better through the incredible power of music.

ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL

We believe that everyone can learn to play music, regardless of their age or ability… But we also know that not everyone is the same! A teaching method that works perfectly for one student might not work at all for the next. We want to make sure that EVERYONE reaches their goals, and enjoys the process of getting there! (What is the point of taking any class if you don’t enjoy it, right?) That is why we offer a range of programs and teaching methods, guaranteeing that we find the perfect fit for each student and ensuring that every step of the learning process is fun and fulfilling.

Private Lessons

Many students choose to follow the more traditional path for music learning by taking private lessons. For students interested in pursuing private piano or keyboard lessons, we offer three different research-based programs: Yamaha’s Pianoforte program, the Suzuki method, or the Royal Conservatory program. A student’s program choice really depends on their age, developmental stage, and own personal goals and expectations for their musical learning. If private lessons are the path you choose, we will give you all of the information that you need to make the best choice for you and get the most out of your music education!

Group Classes

We know from experience that private music lessons don’t work for everyone. In 2010, we asked ourselves: what can we do to help the students who love music but know that the traditional way of learning does not suit them? After doing our research, we became a licensed Yamaha school and introduced the Yamaha Music Education System (YMES). With its fresh and engaging approach, YMES group music programs created a space in our studio for students that wanted to learn music but needed something different than the traditional teaching method. We have watched this program grow from a handful of weekly group music classes in 2010 to 35+ weekly classes in 2018, making it our most popular program to date!
